![]() ![]() WINGSUIT BASE JUMPING
1st Place February 09 Since the beginning of time man has dreamed of human flight. Over the years little steps and innovations were made. However, base jumping with inadequate fabrics usually resulted in death. By the early 20th century some successes were being made in the field of aviation. Skydiving allowed men to explore horizontal movement. A group of pioneers known as 'The Birdmen' explored the wingsuit, but the materials available were not as advanced as their passion. 72 of the 75 original Birdmen died testing their wingsuits. Advances in wingsuit construction allow today's adrenaline junkies to push the limit of human flight. This video is the OFFICIAL Matchstick Productions wingsuit flying segment from 2007's feature film "Seven Sunny Days." Starring Loic Jean-Albert, Andreas Barkhall, Espen Fadnes, Shane McConkey, JT Holmes, and others. Go to www.skimovie.com to buy the film or learn more!

![]() ![]() ![]() FREERUNNING
1st Place January 09 Freerunning (also called parkour) is a little bit like skateboarding meets gymnastics plus the Matrix. Anyone who can defy gravity, risk life and limb (for fun) and still look graceful gets my vote!

This is really an amazing matchup. Jumping off a cliff with only a couple of small sheets of plastic to keep you off the wall, or jumping off a building with absolutely nothing but skills to save you. I think winsuit base jumping is more likely to get you killed, but Freerunning is a bit more of a lifetime skill that you could pull out of your bag of tricks anytime. A wingsuit guy on a date can say he does wingsuit base jumping, but a freerunner can jump off the balcony right in the middle of the date. Which inspires more awe?

It's ON!

My vote goes to Freerunning. Both are fairly awesome, but WBJ requires special equipment, training, etc - whereas Freerunning is accessible to anyone who wants to try it
reply
Agreed. It is possible to incorporate WBJing into FRing, but not necessarily in the other way around.

Freerunning and Wingsuit Base Jumping should win everything ever.

I had gotten so used to the original audio that this new stuff surprised me. Both tracks very mediocre by the way, and nowhere near marvelous.

Even Dwight K. Schrute approves of Parkour.

The more I watch the video for this, the more overcome I am by it's Awesomeness. I'm a pilot, and there really is no freedom like the freedom found in flight, but this is on a whole different level. I wanna do this! Bad!

It seems like this should be called Free Jumping. The running part strikes me as very incidental.

how do you land?

They are wearing small parachutes. A big part of the adrenalin rush is to pull the shoot later and later. There are some videos of guys pulling the chute open within 100 feet of the ground.
