Troy Hurtubise's Inventions
TROY HURTUBISE'S INVENTIONS
Rank: Pepper Tiberius Rex
Nominated by Tiberius Rex

Troy Hurtubise has dedicated his life to making humans invincible. His first project was a bear suit. The documentary, Project Grizzly, directed by Peter Lynch, fully details this enthusiastic and dedicated mans talents.

Besides the Bear Suit Troy has invented  The Trojan a full body ballistic suit of armor, in essences a bulletproof exoskeleton. He has also created high temperature bullet proof materials named Firepaste and 1313 Paste.  His Angel Light invention makes objects transparent.   This man has no doubt dedicated his life to giving humans super powers.

Troy's Ursa suit is sort of a Chindogu invention. there's no practical reason to ever buy a suit to repel bear attacks. The only person I can think of that would actually buy one is former Awesomeoff contestant Dwight K. Schrute. This is a difficult decision. reply

Yeah, but I don't think Dwight would admit he'd need the suit to fend off a bear? I totally agree though, the concept that a Chindogu 'serves a practical purpose but would cause the user such social embarrassment that they are effecticely useless, totally applies to a guy showing up on the trailhead with Troy's suit on. reply

Oh, I think that Dwight would go to whatever lengths necessary to protect himself form a Grizzly. A Brown Bear, he might try to take on himself, but a Grizzly? If you don't have the suit, you could be in serious trouble. reply

i read the description for this like, 12 times, trying to make sense of it because i thought it said he was trying to make humans invisible. reply

It's not just the scissors- it's an art form of making useful inventions that just will never really be produced...I saw in a Chindogu book a device for collecting leftover bits of soap that will compress them into a new bar of soap; a few years later some company actually started making them in the US and it was subsequently taken out of the Chindogu books. That's dedication. reply

Uhhhmmm, I don't want to sell the awesomeness of Chindogu short but...scissors? I'm getting the feeling there's more to these "inventions", but just not picking it up... reply

JS replied to the_mad_nader on 6/6/2009
I don't know much about Chindogu itself, but those scissors look like a pair of "shredder scissors". I have a knock-off with more blades than the one in the picture. It was marketed as a low-cost alternative to a shreader, but it just takes ten times as long and is ten times as messy. Shredder Scissors-good idea, except it doesn't work. Which I guess is the definition of Chindogu. It would be nice to see more examples, though. reply

Thanks - I don't believe I've ever seen "shredder scissors", but after your description and looking again at the pic, I think you're right. I guess the CONCEPT of a simple manual device that accomplishes the same task as a complicated, (relatively) expensive electronic gadget is pretty awesome...if it worked well! reply

I really think that the new one might, look him up in YouTube, he just made a new suit that has "Bear Spray" to take out 20-30 guys. That's awesome! reply
