Leela's infamous one night stand, detester of all things neutral, conqueror of bouncing balls, feared destroyer of pacifists, general of Nixon and lover of all things XM satellite radio 80's channel (to him there was only ever one eighties!!). Of course I am speaking of Futurama's beloved Captain Brannigan. This man loses starships like Captain Kirk loses redshirts. With classic lines such as "Stop exploding you cowards!" , "The epic battle between good and neutral" and "Ready...RETREAT!!!!!!" Brannigan is pure cartoonified awesome! "Men, you're lucky men.   CAPTAIN BLACKADDER
Captain Blackadder was a WWI British Captain in the trenches of eastern France. Played by Rowan Atkins, this character appeared in the six episodes of Blackadder IV. While Blackadder has stooped to his lowest social rank among the four parts of the Blackadder television show, he had somehow gained the most dignity and intelligence. If you have not seen the Blackadder series, you would be hard pressed to find a more entertaining 24 half hours of your life. This is a crisis. A large crisis. In fact, if you've got a moment, it's a twelve-storey crisis with a magnificent entrance hall, carpeting throughout, 24-hour porterage and an enormous sign on the roof, saying 'This Is a Large Crisis'. A large crisis requires a large plan. Get me two pencils and a pair of underpants!

I just love his characterization on the start of WWI. I've actually quoted that speech a number times as the best explanation I've heard as to why WWI happened. Its amazing with something as large as the first world war, that happened in my grandparents lifetime, and few people can really explain it like this. All the bulls*** about what happened in Serbia is just a ridiculous smokescreen. WWI happened, because everyone wanted it to happen, for one reason or another. Blackadder is the greatest series ever put on television, perhaps heightened by how condensed it was. If you could have boiled the best of M.A.S.H. into 24 episodes, it might have been as great, but it wasn't, so it isn't.
